Top Shelf Tues: #rockthedrop is coming!

April 10, 2012

You guys! Support Teen Lit Day is THIS THURSDAY and in celebration, the Readergirlz and figment.com will be rocking the drop! Who’s in? Details here.

Top Shelf Tues: Get Ready to Rock the Drop!

March 20, 2012

Once again, readergirlz and Figment are going to ROCK THE DROP in honor of Support Teen Lit Day, 4/12/12. Why not join us?

Here’s how you can get involved:

*Snag the below bookplate, created by the uber-talented David Ostow and add it to your blog and social networks, linking back to this post to share the love. Proclaim that you will ROCK THE DROP!

*Print a copy of the bookplate and insert it into a book (or 10!) to drop on April 12th. Drop a book in a public spot (park bench, bus seat, restaurant counter?). Lucky finders will see that the book is part of ROCK THE DROP!
*Plan to snap a photo and post it at the readergirlz facebook page. Then tweet the drop at #rockthedrop with all the other lovers of YA books.
Get ready for the celebration! Get ready to rock!

FRIDAY Readers’ Roundup (with *bonus* freebie, too!)

May 6, 2011

Oh, why not? Who says Thursday has to have all of the fun?

And today’s bookish news is fun stuff – for me, at least – as I’m super-pysched to let you know that I’ll be hosting a rousing round of “Three Blind Words” over on the Figment forums tonight, 5pm EST.

Here’s how the game works: I feed you a prompt of three random words, and you spin those words into a book premise. I pick the top three pitches. Lather, rinse, repeat. Winners receive a signed copy of my book and a nifty Figment tote bag!

(That’s the “freebie,” by the way.)

But wait, there’s more! More freebies, that is, this being Friday and all. The family release giveaway closes on 5/15. Interested in being entered to win a signed copy of family, an arc of my upcoming release, What Would My Cell Phone Do?, and $20 gift card to Barnes and Noble? It’s so easy! All you have to do is:

1. post a comment on any blog post (posts left on my interim blog WILL be included in the drawing) through 5/15

OR

2. head over to my Facebook author page and click “like.”

That’s all! Nothing to it! Why are you even still reading this when there are contests to be entered?

Happy Friday, folks!

Readers’ Roundup SPECIAL EDITION: I Rock The Drop!

April 14, 2011

Today’s the day, people! Figment and readergirlz have partnered to promote the 2010 Rock the Drop celebration in honor of YALSA’s Support Teen Lit Day. Download a bookplate, slip it into a beloved YA novel, and “drop” that book for an unsuspecting reader to find! Snap a photo of your “drop” and send it to readergirlz or figment to be featured on the blog, and you’re entered to win a set of Ruby Oliver books by E. Lockhart.

What are you waiting for? Go rock the drop!

Top Shelf Tuesday: Still rockin’!

April 12, 2011

Figment.com is running info about Rock the Drop all week long! Come Rock the Drop with us, and help spread the word!

Thanks mucho to rgz Miami HOST Crissa Chappell (and her niece, Corie, a very good sport!) for the excellent video.

Top Shelf MONDAY: Reading Rocks

April 11, 2011

I know, I know – you miss your Monday Muse, but hopefully this info will be perfectly inspiring!

Speaking of reading and loving (and loving reading!), I have to wax rhapsodic about this year’s readergirlz/figment Rock the Drop initiative, created to celebrate Support Teen Lit Day.

On April 14, (that’s Thursday, people!) download a bookplate from readergirlz or figment, paste it into a book for donation, and drop your copy someplace public for some lucky reader to find. Fun, right? Then send a photo in to one of the blogs (or both! But we’ll be cross-posting) to show us how you rocked the drop!

Right now I’m reading Sean Olin’s Brother/Sister. It’s great: fast-paced and grabby. It would make for a good “drop.”

Just sayin’.
